Payment free/lowered medical treatment program of Hokkaido Kin-ikyo

What is this?

This is a program to provide low-cost or free medical treatment for those who have financial difficulties and are therefore reluctant to receive necessary medical care. This program is legitimated by Social Welfare Act, and can be applied in any Hokkaido Kin-ikyo hospitals or clinics.
With this program, all or a part of medical expenses for your treatment (depending on your financial condition) will be exempted for a certain period of time.

Who is eligible?

Those who have difficulties in paying medical expenses due to low level of income or other reasons, including foreign nationals.
If you are a foreign student who is living only on your scholarship or giving birth to your baby with the system of Sapporo city subsidy, you may also be eligible for this program.
Remember that this program covers only medical expenses. It does not cover health checkups for pregnancy or baby. However, it does cover the medicine prescribed after your checkups. For example, if your doctor prescribes you medicine for anemia after a maternity checkup, the cost of the medicine will be covered.

Who to ask?

If you are interested in this program, visit one of our hospitals/clinics and ask any of us. Social workers are available at the hospitals. Kin-ikyo Sapporo Hospital also offers English translators (availability depends on time). The application procedure will be smooth if you prepare the certificate of your student registration and the certificate of your scholarship.
Please do not hesitate to ask us, as your health and your familie's health are primal and therefore more important than any financial problems.
